Excited to announce: SWING AT SUNSET!!!
The American Big Band Preservation Society and Veterans, Inc.
have combined efforts to present Swing at
Sunset, a new summer concert series. All five Friday shows will be held
rain or shine at Veterans, Inc. located at 59 South Street in Shrewsbury.
Proceeds will benefit both of the non-profit organizations’ efforts to keep
music in schools and to aid veterans in need.
“The venue is truly ideal,” said Dan Gabel, ABBPS President
and event coordinator. “A large outdoor stage plus a wide-open grassy area
provide acres of picnic heaven for your listening pleasure.” Picnics are
encouraged, but food and beverages will be available for sale. Please remember to bring a lawn chair or
blanket. There is ample free parking,
with handicapped spaces and bathrooms easily accessible. In case of rain, the event
will move indoors with concert style seating. Please check the event website (www.swingatsunset.net) for more
information.
The series kicks off June 14th with a special
Flag Day tribute to veterans with Dan Gabel and the Abletones, an authentic
18-piece Big Band featuring renowned vocalist Amanda Carr. The first two
hundred attendees will receive a complimentary American Flag. “We are excited
to welcome friends, neighbors and supporters of all ages to our beautiful
grounds for great music and entertainment while we celebrate veterans,” said
Vincent J. Perrone, Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (Retired), Veterans Inc. President
and CEO. “We’re looking forward to this fun-filled event.”
Swing at Sunset
continues with four concerts featuring local and nationally known talent:
July 12: The Compaq Big Band featuring vocalist Rebecca
Holtz
July 19: Frank Vignola and Danny Raniolo
July 26: The Wolverine Jazz Band
August 2: The World Famous Hal McIntyre Orchestra directed
by Don Pentleton, featuring a tribute to Frank Sinatra with vocalist Steve
Marvin.
